Being Cool and Looking Cool- Two different things!

I thought about this long and hard the past few days, when I should be working. Looking cool and being cool are completely different.
I walked into a real estate office the other day, and everyone was spotless. Dressed to the nines, perfect hair and makeup, and I felt out of sorts. Out of place, because I was in jeans, hair tied back, raindrops on my glasses...it was one of those moments. You know, the moment you feel like you are in the first five minutes of some chick flick, but you don't feel like no pretty woman!
Last night, I started packing for my trip to vegas. yes, its in three weeks, but c'mon! I'm excited, and some things (like my sunglasses, my vitamins in their old lady travel container and extra socks) can be packed now. It gives me hope. Hope that the 27th will soon come and I will be on vacation...that mysterious place, full of bright lights and slot machines and many places to eat...24 hours a day!!
Back to my story, I realized I'm not cool, and I don't dress cool. I am me. I like my $7 walmart tshirts and my sweat pants at night. I like going to the store in whatever I want...those days of being 4 are here again, when I don't care what people think if I wear a lime green tshirt with a blue sweater and my favorite jeans with worn spots in the knees and dried paint splashes on one leg. I don't care. I don't brush my hair sometimes, and guess what? I think people don't care. Now, I take care of myself and I clean up nicely, but sometimes I want to wear my snoopy tshirt and sometimes I grab an off color non matching long sleeve shirt to wear over it.
It dawned on me that some people try to dress like this...and it shows they are trying. Is this a trend I am unaware of? Guys in messy, non matching clothes with perfectly messy Axe hair and bracelets...guys!! I must be wearing what's in, but I don't care and I am not trying....which makes me cool.
Nice.
I'm finally cool.
Of course, I knew I was always cool.

When life hands you Kashi

I have added Kashi Go Lean cereal to my Special K with Strawberries diet. It isn't easy, even though there are days when I can eat cereal all day. This time, I have to eat cereal most of the day. Big difference.
Kashi Go Lean is a tough cereal. Its kinda like sugar pops without the sugar and with a bunch of twigs and stuff. Its good, has just the right sweetness for me, but gosh darn---it sure is crunchy!! I soak it in my skim milk for a few minutes before I dig in. And, I can't stand Skim Milk, I love whole and 2% but I hate skim!! I did buy it...I need all the help I can get!
Tonight, I have cooked a nice roast chicken with parsley, thyme, lemon, garlic, olive oil and potatoes. Lots of oil and butter, but this is still a very healthy dish...its made by me, fresh ingredients, and no preservatives. The whole dish cost about $10 to make and will feed AB and me very well tonight. Plus, tomorrow I can take the leftover chicken, shred it, and mix it with some cooked carrots and rice....that will be sooo good. For dinner...while watching Glee.
But tonight I have Hells Kitchen with AB.

22 days til vacay!

Let the countdown begin! AB (Amazing Boyfriend) suprised me this weekend with my somewhat expected birthday present...a fun filled trip to Las Vegas the last week of October!!
I am soo excited!! I did know that he was planning it, as he asked if I could get time off work and we both wanted to go, but now it is reality. And now, I need to fit into my fancy pants in like three weeks!!
What are my fancy pants? Well, they aren't Avon, but they are Hanes. My first Christmas with AB, he got me like 7 pairs of sweatpants and one black velour tracksuit. First off, I love sweatpants. In the winter, I get home from work and put on my sweat pants. Love them! They are so comfy and warm. But, the black velour tracksuit has become my 'Fancy Vegas Suit.' I have worn them to vegas each trip, complete with mega large ol' lady sunglasses and stark white tennies. Last year, the 'fancy pants' were a bit tight, and I busted out the bottom! So, I have this hand-sewn seem in the butt of the pants, and they are still too tight. AB said I have to fit in the fancy pants...it makes the trip so much fun.
Now, I could go out and buy a new pair of pants, but its not the same. I need to fit into the originals. I can do it. I can do it. I need to do it.
I am on day 2 of my special k diet and already cheating. Not good.
I will, go for a walk after work. Hopefully, that will help. I also need to do my balance ball workout. Someone remind me to get my butt in gear!!!
